Helicopters!

We went Sunday to watch Jimmy take off in a helicopter. Jimmy thinks it's his Dads helicopter as any 3 year old rightfully would. He will not hear otherwise. We'd done it once and I thought this time would be the perfect opportunity for an amazing picture. In my mind it looked something like us up on top of the observation deck across the street from the pad. The boys standing next to one another. Me taking the pic from behind as the boys looked on to their Dad taking off. Nope. Boys didn't have the same picture in mind. They'd done this once before. Jimmy refused to get out of the car and once the roters started, Ben was stuck to my side. After all was said and done, Jimmy asked why the helicopter didn't flash its lights at him. And he would like too see more now please.

Cars and Paint.

Our neighbors of 3 years in Daegu moved here to Seoul around the time we did. After moving to a high rise they no longer had room for their son's car. The Jenkins so graciously offered it to Jimmy. He of course did not refuse. As soon as he starts rollin' his mouth starts moving. Non stop chatter.

It's hot out so we found a little creative fun inside. Our neighbors joined us later (no pics) and all the art turned out beautiful and each on so different. Painty marbles are too much fun (and quite a mess!).

The Ayers

As one last hoora, the Ayers were so sweet as to load their bunch up and come stay with us for the July 4th weekend. 7 kids in a 3 bedroom house and the weekend was perfection. We even got the entire Seoul Zoo to ourselves. And to top that, one night we got ALL the kids to bed and the adults got to stay up and talk. It may have been a first for our entire friendship.
Sigh. We miss them dearly. They are in our daily conversations. Little Jimmy always prays for them (if nothing else). Such sweet and special memories.

The Sweet Ayers..........

Julie posted some pics of the kids and a sweet message I've yet to read (trying to keep my eyes dry).

Our New Home.

This is it. This is where we will lay our heads for the next 365 ish days. Reminds me of my post college apartment days but in the land of high-rises and population of 10+million, it's a pretty big deal to have any sort of yard at all. So we will be grateful and play in our little strip of yard for as many hours as the sun light will allow. ;)

Catching up Early 2010

Haven't posted pics in sometime. So here's a quick update -

We spent a good bit of time in Seoul this year at "the room". The boys had fun with dart guns. You can see Ben is vegging out in the chair watching TV. What else to do when I have to shower and no where to contain him. Lots of fun in the snow (Jimmy's first face plant).

The boys had a trip to Dad's office. Big deal. Both are smitten and find it so exciting to go. From the 100's of Army trucks to the keyboard on the desk. It's fun stuff.
We are constantly living in forts at our house. The treadmill and big brown chair are easy converts. Ben loves putting anything on his head these days (and most of it appropriate). He also loves his Dad's coconut cake and ANYTHING his brother is doing.

Happy New Year 2010!!!

Christmas 2009

A little update from December. We had a blast with Jimmy 3 being on a lighter work schedule. Cookie making. Jimmy 4 is EXCELLENT at the sprinkles. Really knows how to pile it on. Benjamin just LUVS anything his big brother is doing. Put him in a fort with Jimmy and he's is one gitty boy!

One of my favorite places to go anytime (not just Christmas) is the flower market. We went for my birthday. Jimmy 4 loves it to. The locals give him sweet treats.....guilting me in the purchasing flowers from them. It's a win-win-win!

Ben has been teething since the day he was born. He drools profuse amounts of slobber and chews on anything in sight. Nothing is off limits. He recently spit up on Jimmy 4 who immediately started gagging and freaking out. I thought he might actually vomit.

Hendrix Visit SK!

We had the sweet blessing of family traveling half way around the world to come see US! Jimmy and Gerri Hendrix (aka Grandpa Jim and Grandma Gerri) made the momentous trip over Thanksgiving! What a way to start off the holidays!

We did LOTs but mostly just enjoyed time spent together. They were so gracious to help us decorate...Martin James Jr., III, and IV ALL helped hang lights outside. We visited Krispy Kreme donut. Very Cool. To compete with the normal Korean pastries (which are all gussied up) the donuts were a little more, well, fancy and detailed than we are used to seeing them in the states. Almost too pretty to eat. Though we did manage. Jim and Gerri transversed the crazy subway system very well. Of course you can see Little Jimmy is an old hat at the subway. Just chilling out next to Mom (at least that's what this picture would have you believe). Craziest of all, Jim and Gerri not only ate but actually ENJOYED a traditional Korean "beef and leaf". The food is VERY different than ours and we were proud of them for being willing to try (not to mention, chairs ain't included!). It was goooooooood! Best we've had in Korea. They also enjoyed the sites of the Somoon Market here in Deagu. Nothing quite prepares you for the sites, smells (fishy - at best).....and the lack of personal space the locals need. While nice people, they have no problem stepping on your heals....REPEATEDLY, if they feel so inclined.

We were also grateful for the opportunity for our family to meet our friends here (who are like family to us). It means a lot to us when the all these people who are so important and special to us get to meet! And this year it was at THANKSGIVING!
Thank you Grandma and Grandpa for everything it took to make this visit happen! It ain't easy! We are beyond grateful!
